The Laws of Thermodynamics In A Nutshell

1. The Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics states that if two systems are each in thermal equilibrium with a third, then they are also in equilibrium with each other.

2. The First Law, also known as the Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.

3. The Second Law states that disorder in the universe always increases; when energy changes from one form to another form, entropy (disorder) increases.

4. The Third Law states that if an object reaches 0 Kelvin, or absolute zero, its atoms will stop moving. At absolute zero, the entropy of a perfect crystal is zero.
